September 4th, 2015

The 2015 HRW wheat harvest is complete in every state except Idaho (98%), a state that now also has 5% of the 2016 HRW crop planted.

This will be the final weekly report with an overall final report to be issued in mid-October that will summarize quality data in terms of the 2015 crop’s relationship to the 2014 crop and the 5-year averages. The summary will include grade, non-grade, mill, dough and bake comparisons. The summary will also be broken down by export tributary (Gulf and Pacific Northwest).

The final samples are either in transit or in the lab and in various stages of testing. There was again very little change in overall average testing data this week. There is no additional grade or non-grade data to report this week. Gulf Tributary dough and bake testing (now including Texas, Oklahoma and areas southwest Kansas) indicate an improvement of mix time from 4.5 minutes to 4.7 minutes, an improvement in stability from 6.0 minutes to 6.4 minutes and a mixing tolerance index of 35 (BU) up from last week’s 38 (BU). Farinograph absorption also increased this week to 61.5% (up from 61.3% last week).
